How to Book a Bali Car or Scooter Rental on WhatsApp (Step by Step)
By the SiapPergi Editorial Team · Published 15 October 2026 · 5 min read

If you’re new to Indonesia, one thing surprises people quickly: almost everything runs on WhatsApp. Your villa host, your driver, the surf school, the warung down the road — and rental companies. There’s no app to download and no long checkout. Here’s exactly how to book a car or scooter rental in Bali over WhatsApp, what to write, and what to check before you pay.
Before you start: get WhatsApp working
- Keep your home number on WhatsApp — it works fine over hotel Wi-Fi or a local data SIM.
- Buy a local SIM or eSIM on arrival for data (Telkomsel, XL, Indosat and others sell tourist packages at the airport).
- Save the rental’s number as a contact so you can see their profile and avoid impostors.
Step 1: choose your vehicle
Browse the scooter catalogue (from IDR 70,000 a day) or the car catalogue (self-drive from IDR 310,000 a day). Prices are fixed, so you know what you’ll pay before you message anyone.
Step 2: send the booking form
Fill in your dates, delivery address and name. Your SiapPergi account is created automatically so you can see your booking status. The details go straight to our admin.
Step 3: confirm on WhatsApp
Our admin messages you on WhatsApp to confirm availability, the final price and the delivery time. This is the moment to ask questions. A good message to send looks like this:
“Hi! I’d like a Honda Scoopy from 12 to 19 March, delivered to Villa Sari, Jalan Pantai Berawa, Canggu, around 2 pm. Two riders. Are helmets and a raincoat included? Can I pay by QRIS on delivery?”
What to ask before you confirm
- Is delivery and pick-up included for my address?
- What exactly is included — helmets, raincoat, phone holder, child seat?
- Is there any deposit? (With SiapPergi: no deposit up front.)
- What happens if the vehicle breaks down?
- What time is pick-up at the end, and can it be from a different address (e.g. the airport)?
Step 4: delivery and handover
The vehicle arrives at your hotel, villa or the airport. Take five minutes to check it: film the bodywork, test the brakes and lights, note the fuel level and check the STNK registration paper is there. Our handover checklist has the full list.
Step 5: pay
Pay in full by bank transfer or e-wallet — usually by scanning a QRIS code with your banking or e-wallet app. No deposit up front. Why we do it this way is explained in pay on delivery rentals in Bali.
Staying safe on WhatsApp
- Only message numbers listed on the rental’s official website.
- Be wary of anyone who messages you first offering “cheaper” deals.
- Never send card numbers or one-time codes over chat.
- Don’t transfer money before you’ve seen the vehicle. See upfront payment scams in Bali.
Useful phrases
Our admin speaks English, but a little Indonesian goes a long way with drivers and shop owners: *terima kasih* (thank you), *berapa?* (how much?), *bensin* (fuel), *helm* (helmet), *sampai jumpa* (see you).
Frequently asked questions
How do I rent a scooter in Bali online?
Choose a scooter in the SiapPergi catalogue, send the form with your dates and address, and the admin confirms on WhatsApp. The scooter is delivered and you pay at handover.
Do I need a local phone number?
No. Your home WhatsApp number works over Wi-Fi or a local data SIM. A local SIM or eSIM is handy for maps and data.
How fast does the admin reply?
Usually within minutes during the day. Late-night requests are answered the next morning.
Can I change my booking dates on WhatsApp?
Yes. Message the admin as early as possible and they’ll check availability for the new dates.
