Pay on Delivery Rentals in Bali: Book Now, Pay When the Car or Scooter Arrives
By the SiapPergi Editorial Team · Published 15 October 2026 · 7 min read

You’ve found a rental car or scooter online, the price looks good, and then comes the line: “Please transfer 50% deposit to confirm.” To a stranger, in another country, for a vehicle you’ve only seen in a photo. It’s how a lot of Bali rentals still work — and it’s exactly how tourists lose money. Pay on delivery flips the risk: the vehicle comes to you first, you check it, and only then do you pay. Here’s how it works, what to look for, and how to book it.
What “pay on delivery” actually means in Bali
In Bali, pay on delivery (sometimes called COD or pay on arrival) means the rental brings the vehicle to your hotel, villa or the airport, hands over the keys, and you pay right there. At SiapPergi it works like this:
- No deposit up front — nothing to transfer before the car or scooter arrives.
- Full payment at handover, by bank transfer or e-wallet (QRIS works with most Indonesian and many international e-wallet and banking apps).
- Delivery and pick-up anywhere in Bali — from Kuta, Canggu and Uluwatu to Ubud, Amed, Lovina and Ngurah Rai Airport.
- Price agreed in writing on WhatsApp before delivery, so there are no surprises at the door.
Need to pay cash? Ask the admin on WhatsApp when you book. Having an Indonesian e-wallet or a banking app that scans QRIS makes handover quickest.
Why paying on delivery is safer
The classic Bali rental scam isn’t complicated: a fake or flaky rental takes a deposit by bank transfer, then stops replying. Or the vehicle that turns up is older, dirtier or a different model than the one you paid for, and you feel you have to accept it because your money is already gone.
When you pay on delivery, both problems disappear. If no vehicle comes, you’ve lost nothing. If the vehicle isn’t what you booked, you simply don’t accept it. We’ve written more about these traps in upfront payment scams in Bali and the wider guide to trustworthy scooter rentals.
Step by step: booking a pay-on-delivery rental
- Choose your vehicle. Cars are in the car rental catalogue, scooters in the scooter catalogue. Prices are fixed and shown upfront.
- Send the form with your dates, delivery address and name. Your SiapPergi account is created automatically.
- Our admin confirms on WhatsApp — availability, final price, delivery time.
- The vehicle arrives. Take your time checking it (see the checklist below).
- Pay in full, then ride or drive off. At the end, we collect it from wherever you are.
Your 5-minute handover checklist
| Check | Car | Scooter |
|---|---|---|
| Photos & video of every panel | ✔ including roof and bumpers | ✔ including under the seat |
| Tyres | Tread, no bulges, spare tyre present | Tread, pressure feels firm |
| Brakes | Pedal firm, no grinding | Both levers bite well |
| Lights & indicators | Headlights, brake lights, indicators | Headlight, brake light, indicators, horn |
| Fuel level | Note it (photo of the gauge) | Note it (photo of the gauge) |
| Documents | STNK in the glovebox | STNK under the seat |
| Extras | Air-con cold, child seat if requested | Two helmets that fit, raincoat |
Doing this before you pay gives you a clear record if there’s any question about damage at the end. Our longer scooter handover checklist covers the fine print.
Pay on delivery for scooters
It works exactly the same for scooters. In our catalogue they start at IDR 70,000 a day for an older Honda BeAT, IDR 90,000 for a current Scoopy and IDR 150,000 for an NMAX or PCX — two helmets included, minimum two days. See motorbike rental in Bali, pay on arrival for the scooter-specific details.
What about a security deposit?
Many Bali rentals hold a security deposit, or even your passport, until the vehicle comes back. Our catalogue doesn’t ask for a deposit up front — you pay the rental in full at handover and that’s it. If a particular vehicle ever needed a deposit, the admin would tell you clearly on WhatsApp before you confirm. Never hand over your passport as a guarantee; it’s your most important document abroad. Frequently asked questions
Can I rent a car in Bali and pay on delivery?
Yes. With SiapPergi you book online, the admin confirms on WhatsApp, and you pay in full when the car is delivered and you’ve checked it. There’s no deposit up front.
How do I pay at delivery?
By bank transfer or e-wallet, usually by scanning a QRIS code. If you need to pay cash, mention it to the admin on WhatsApp when you book.
Can the car be delivered to Bali airport?
Yes. Cars and scooters can be delivered to Ngurah Rai Airport, your hotel or your villa anywhere in Bali.
What if the vehicle that arrives isn’t what I booked?
Don’t accept it and don’t pay. Message the admin on WhatsApp so they can sort out the right vehicle. Because you pay on delivery, you never have money tied up in a vehicle you didn’t want.
