Bali has a large Russian-speaking community, from surfers in Canggu to families in Ubud and long-stayers in Uluwatu. A scooter is the easiest way to get around — if your licence has the right category. Here is what you need, what doesn't count, and how to rent without paying anything in advance.

Documents for Russian riders

DocumentWhy it matters
Russian driving licence with category A (or A1 for scooters up to 125 cc)Bali scooters are motorcycles; category B doesn't cover them
International driving permit (IDP) showing category APolice checks in Bali expect a permit together with your licence
PassportShown at handover and at police checks
Travel insurance that covers ridingMedical costs after an accident abroad can be very high

Rules and how they are enforced can change. Check the latest guidance from official sources before you travel, and carry the original cards — not only photos.

A or A1 — which scooter can I ride?

  • Category A: covers all scooters in our catalogue, including the NMAX, PCX and XMAX 250.
  • Subcategory A1: light motorcycles up to 125 cc — e.g. Honda BeAT, Scoopy, Vario 125 and Yamaha Fazzio.
  • Category B only: not enough for a scooter. Consider a car with driver instead.

Prices (fleet catalogue)

ScooterDailyWeeklyMonthly
Honda BeAT (Gen 4–5)IDR 80,000IDR 425,000IDR 1,210,000
Honda Scoopy (Gen 4)IDR 90,000IDR 515,000IDR 1,410,000
Honda Vario 125IDR 100,000IDR 515,000IDR 1,510,000
Yamaha NMAX 155 (Gen 2)IDR 150,000IDR 902,000IDR 2,260,000
Honda PCX 160 (Gen 2)IDR 150,000IDR 902,000IDR 2,260,000
Yamaha XMAX 250 (Gen 2)IDR 310,000IDR 1,570,000IDR 4,010,000

Many Russian guests stay for weeks — the monthly rate is much cheaper per day than the daily price. For Canggu traffic and parking, a compact Scoopy or Fazzio is easiest; for Uluwatu's hills with two people, an NMAX or PCX.

Paying for your rental

  • There's no deposit and no payment before delivery — you pay in full when the scooter arrives and you've checked it.
  • Standard payment is bank transfer or e-wallet in rupiah. If those don't work for you, ask the admin before booking which option is possible.
  • Prices are in rupiah (IDR); other currencies on the website are estimates only.
  • Never send money in advance to anyone who contacts you on social media claiming to be a rental — see upfront payment scams.

How to book

  1. Pick a scooter in the catalogue (or tell us your height, route and how many riders and we'll suggest one).
  2. Send your dates, the hotel or villa name with a Google Maps pin, and your WhatsApp number.
  3. The admin confirms the bike, the total price and the delivery time — no payment yet.
  4. The scooter arrives with 2 helmets. Check it together, show your passport and licence, then pay in full (bank transfer or e-wallet).

You can write to us in simple English, or use your phone's translator — the admin replies on WhatsApp every day, 07:00–23:00 Bali time.

Frequently asked questions

Can I ride a scooter in Bali on a Russian licence?

Yes, if your licence includes category A (or A1 for scooters up to 125 cc) and you carry an international driving permit that shows that category.

Is category B enough for a 110 cc scooter?

No. Scooters are motorcycles in Indonesia, so you need category A or A1.

Where do I get an international driving permit in Russia?

From the traffic police (GIBDD) before you travel. Check that the motorcycle category is listed.

My Russian bank card doesn't work abroad — how do I pay?

You pay on delivery in rupiah. Bank transfer or e-wallet is standard; ask the admin before booking which payment option works for you.

Do you take a deposit or my passport?

No. You only show your passport at handover and keep it. There's no deposit up front.
