The wet season is a lovely time to visit Bali — green rice fields, fewer crowds, lower hotel prices. It's also when a sudden downpour can soak a scooter rider in seconds. A rental car lets you keep exploring on rainy afternoons and get everyone home dry. Here's how to plan around the weather and drive safely when it pours.

Why a car makes sense in the wet season

Driving safely in the rain

  • Plan big drives for the morning — many days are dry until early afternoon.
  • Slow down and leave more space: scooters brake suddenly and roads get oily after the first rain.
  • Don't drive through deep water. If a lane is flooded, wait 20–30 minutes; it usually drains quickly.
  • Use headlights in heavy rain and watch for scooter riders without lights.
  • Mountain roads (Kintamani, Bedugul, Munduk) can be foggy and slippery — go early, or book a driver.

General tips: driving in Bali.

Rainy-day ideas by car

  • Spa afternoon, cooking class or a long café lunch.
  • Shopping in Seminyak or the malls in Kuta and Denpasar.
  • Waterfalls and rice terraces look their best in the wet season — go in the morning.

How booking works

  1. Tap the WhatsApp button and fill in the blanks: car, dates, hotel or villa, passengers.
  2. The admin replies with what's free, the exact total and the delivery time — you know the full price before you commit.
  3. The car is delivered to your hotel, villa or the airport. Walk around it, photograph any scratches and check the fuel level together.
  4. Show your passport and licence + IDP, pay, and drive off. Return is collected from the same address (or another one you agree on).
