Bali is a short trip from Manila and a favourite for Filipino travellers, many of whom ride motorcycles at home. The paperwork is simple — but traffic keeps left. Here's what you need and how to book with no deposit.

What a Filipino rider needs

DocumentWhy it matters
LTO licence with motorcycle code ABali scooters are motorcycles
International Driving Permit from AAP (recommended)Smooths police checks
PassportShown at handover and police checks
Travel insurance covering scooter ridingCheck the policy's licence conditions

ASEAN recognition vs the IDP

Indonesia, the Philippines and Vietnam are ASEAN members, and under an ASEAN agreement a valid national licence from another member country is generally recognised. Police at a roadside check may still ask for an International Driving Permit, so many riders carry one. Rules can change — check before you travel.

Not licensed for motorcycles? A car with driver, a rental car or ride-hailing is safer for you and your insurance.

How booking works

  1. Pick a scooter in the catalogue (or tell us your height, route and how many riders and we'll suggest one).
  2. Send your dates, the hotel or villa name with a Google Maps pin, and your WhatsApp number.
  3. The admin confirms the bike, the total price and the delivery time — no payment yet.
  4. The scooter arrives with 2 helmets. Check it together, show your passport and licence, then pay in full (bank transfer or e-wallet).

Book on WhatsApp or via the Bali scooter rental catalogue: the bike is delivered to your hotel or villa and you pay when it arrives.

Frequently asked questions

Can I ride a scooter in Bali with a Philippine licence?

Yes, if your LTO licence includes the motorcycle code (A). A car-only licence doesn't cover scooters.

Do Filipinos need an IDP in Bali?

A valid Philippine licence is generally recognised under an ASEAN agreement, but an IDP from AAP helps at police checks.

Is it hard to ride on the left?

It takes a little getting used to. Start on quiet roads near your hotel and avoid riding at night at first.

Do I pay a deposit?

No. You pay in full when the scooter is delivered.
