Bali is a short flight from Singapore and a favourite weekend escape. Many Singaporeans already ride at home, so a scooter is the natural way to explore. Here's which licence counts, whether you need an IDP, and how to get a bike delivered with no deposit.

What a Singaporean rider needs

DocumentWhy it matters
Singapore licence with Class 2B, 2A or 2Bali scooters (110–160 cc) are motorcycles
International Driving Permit from the AA of Singapore (recommended)Smooths police checks where officers expect an IDP
PassportShown at handover and police checks
Travel insurance that covers ridingCheck the policy's licence conditions

ASEAN recognition vs the IDP

Indonesia, Singapore and Malaysia are ASEAN members, and under an ASEAN agreement a valid national licence from another member country is generally recognised. Police at a roadside check may still ask for an International Driving Permit, so many riders carry one to avoid arguments. Rules and their enforcement can change — check before you travel.

Only hold a Class 3 licence? Book a car with driver or use ride-hailing — riding without a motorcycle class can void your insurance.

How booking works

  1. Pick a scooter in the catalogue (or tell us your height, route and how many riders and we'll suggest one).
  2. Send your dates, the hotel or villa name with a Google Maps pin, and your WhatsApp number.
  3. The admin confirms the bike, the total price and the delivery time — no payment yet.
  4. The scooter arrives with 2 helmets. Check it together, show your passport and licence, then pay in full (bank transfer or e-wallet).

Book on WhatsApp or via the Bali scooter rental catalogue: the bike is delivered to your hotel or villa and you pay when it arrives.

Tips for Singaporeans

  • Indonesia drives on the left, like Singapore — but traffic is far less orderly. Expect bikes overtaking on both sides.
  • Roads to Uluwatu, Ubud and Kintamani are hilly; a 125–160 cc scooter is worth it for two people.
  • Helmets are compulsory for rider and passenger.
  • Weekend trip? Ask for delivery to the airport area or your hotel — see first 24 hours with a Bali scooter.

Frequently asked questions

Can I ride a scooter in Bali with a Singapore licence?

Yes, if it includes Class 2B, 2A or 2. A Class 3 car licence doesn't cover scooters.

Do Singaporeans need an IDP in Bali?

A valid Singapore licence is generally recognised under an ASEAN agreement, but an IDP from the AA of Singapore helps at police checks. Check current rules before travelling.

Is Class 2B enough for Bali scooters?

Yes. Class 2B covers motorcycles up to 200 cc, and Bali rental scooters are 110–160 cc.

Can I rent for just a weekend?

Yes. The minimum rental is 2 days, delivered to your hotel; you pay on arrival.
