Christmas in Bali is magic — warm evenings, family dinners by the pool, fireworks over the beach. It's also when everyone else is here too. Rental cars, especially 7-seaters, are booked out well before Christmas, and traffic in the south slows to a crawl on the busiest nights. A little planning makes all the difference.

Why cars run out over the holidays

Demand comes from three directions at once: Australian families on their summer break, Indonesian families on year-end holidays, and travellers from Europe and Asia escaping winter. Seven-seaters for families are the first to go.

Surviving holiday traffic

  • Drive early. Day trips leaving by 8 am miss most of the jams.
  • New Year's Eve: don't plan to drive in Kuta, Seminyak or Canggu after late afternoon. Celebrate near your villa or take a taxi.
  • Don't drink and drive — police checks are common over the holidays. See getting home safely after a night out.
  • Airport runs: allow plenty of extra time around Christmas and early January.

Need a car for one big day only — Christmas lunch, a family outing? A car with driver takes the stress out of parking and traffic.

Booking scooters too? Read booking in high season.

What you need

  • Passport (shown at handover — you keep it, nobody holds it).
  • Your home driving licence + an International Driving Permit with the car category. See how to get an IDP.
  • Minimum rental 2 days (the daily rate counts per 24 hours).
  • No deposit up front: you pay in full when the car is handed over, by bank transfer or e-wallet, in rupiah.

How booking works

  1. Tap the WhatsApp button and fill in the blanks: car, dates, hotel or villa, passengers.
  2. The admin replies with what's free, the exact total and the delivery time — you know the full price before you commit.
  3. The car is delivered to your hotel, villa or the airport. Walk around it, photograph any scratches and check the fuel level together.
  4. Show your passport and licence + IDP, pay, and drive off. Return is collected from the same address (or another one you agree on).

Frequently asked questions

When should I book a car for Christmas in Bali?

As soon as your flights are booked. There's no deposit, so reserving early is risk-free.

Are prices higher at Christmas?

Our catalogue prices are fixed; the problem over Christmas is availability, not price.

Is it a good idea to drive on New Year's Eve in Bali?

Not in the south. Roads in Kuta, Seminyak and Canggu are jammed from late afternoon — park up and walk or take a taxi.

Do I need to pay anything to reserve?

No. You pay in full when the car is handed over.
