Scooter Rental in Nusa Lembongan: Prices, Ceningan & Tips
By the SiapPergi Editorial Team · Published 11 October 2026 · 6 min read

Nusa Lembongan is calmer than Nusa Penida. The roads are short, the beaches are close together, and you can cross to Nusa Ceningan over the famous Yellow Bridge. The most practical way to get around the island is a scooter. This article explains how to rent one on Lembongan, what it costs, a loop around the island, and what to watch out for on the narrow, hilly roads.
Your Bali scooter stays behind
Almost everyone reaches Lembongan by fast boat from Sanur Beach. These boats carry passengers and luggage only, not scooters. If you already rent a scooter on Bali, park it somewhere safe or return it before you leave. Ask the rental for permission if the scooter will be left overnight. Once on the island, rent a new scooter on Lembongan.
You can check fast boat tickets on the Sanur to Nusa Lembongan boat tickets page. Boats usually dock at Jungutbatu or Mushroom Bay, depending on the operator. For a scooter on Bali before and after the crossing, see scooter rental in Sanur. From there you can ride straight to the harbour.
How to rent a scooter on Nusa Lembongan
- At the pier. As you step off the boat, locals or rental shops usually offer scooters. It is quick, but compare prices and the condition of the bikes first.
- Through your accommodation. Many homestays and hotels can find you a scooter and deliver it. This is the most practical option if you stay more than one night.
- A rental shop in Jungutbatu. The main road in Jungutbatu has several rental places. You can see the scooter in person before you pay.
Wherever you rent, agree on the same things: the daily price, whether fuel is included, how many helmets you get, and the return time. Photograph the scooter before you ride off. Do not hand over your passport as a deposit.
Estimated scooter rental prices on Lembongan
| Type | Estimated market price | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| 110 cc automatic (BeAT, Scoopy) | about Rp80–120k/day | Most widely available |
| 125 cc automatic (Vario) | about Rp90–150k/day | More comfortable for two people on climbs |
| 2–3 day rental | Daily rate is negotiable | Ask for a package price before paying |
These figures are estimated market prices and can rise in peak season, such as July–August and the end of the year. For comparison, scooter rental in Bali on the mainland is usually about Rp60–80k per day for a BeAT. Island prices are higher because scooters and fuel have to come in by boat.
Ask whether the tank is full at handover. Fuel on Lembongan is mostly sold at roadside stalls, in bottles or from small "Pertamini" pumps, at a higher price than Bali's petrol stations.
A loop around Lembongan and Ceningan
Nusa Lembongan covers only about 8 km². A comfortable loop: start in Jungutbatu, head north to the mangrove forest, come back through Lembongan village, then go south to Devil's Tear and Dream Beach. After that, cross the Yellow Bridge to Ceningan.
| Destination | Approx. time from Jungutbatu | Highlights |
|---|---|---|
| Mangrove Forest | about 10 minutes | Boat tours through the mangroves, snorkelling |
| Panorama Point | about 10 minutes | Views of the Badung Strait and Mount Agung on clear days |
| Underground House (Goa Gala-Gala) | about 10 minutes | Hand-dug cave house in Lembongan village |
| Devil's Tear & Dream Beach | about 15 minutes | Waves crashing on cliffs, white-sand beach |
| Mushroom Bay | about 15 minutes | Calm bay, boat landing and snorkelling spot |
| Yellow Bridge | about 10 minutes | Link to Nusa Ceningan |
| Blue Lagoon (Ceningan) | about 20 minutes | Blue lagoon seen from the clifftop |
These riding times do not include stops. With stops for photos, swimming and food, one loop of Lembongan and Ceningan usually takes 4–6 hours.
Crossing the Yellow Bridge
The Yellow Bridge is quite narrow, so scooters from both directions have to take turns. Ride slowly, do not stop in the middle for photos, and give way to pedestrians. When it is busy, park first and take photos from the end of the bridge.
Road conditions you should know
- Most roads on Lembongan are narrow concrete, just wide enough for two scooters to pass slowly.
- Some sections, especially on Ceningan and towards the southern cliffs, are steep and potholed. For two riders, choose a Vario 125 over a 110 cc scooter.
- There is sand on bends near the beaches. Brake gradually and do not corner fast.
- Street lighting is minimal at night. Try to be back at your accommodation before dark if you do not know the roads yet.
- Phone signal is generally good, but keep an offline map just in case.
Not confident on a scooter yet? Do not learn on Lembongan. The short, steep climbs and sandy roads are harder than they look. Consider a scooter with a driver, a local ojek (motorbike taxi), or one of the open-back truck tours offered in Jungutbatu.
Documents, helmets and rules
Traffic rules on Lembongan are the same as everywhere in Indonesia. You must carry a SIM C (Indonesian motorcycle licence), or for foreign visitors an international driving permit that includes the motorcycle category, plus the scooter's STNK (registration papers), and you must wear a helmet. Police checks on the island are rare, but travel insurance usually does not cover accidents if you ride without a valid licence. Full details are in requirements for renting a scooter in Bali.
Foreign visitors should also know there are two separate levies. The first is the Bali Province foreign tourist levy of Rp150,000 per person. The second is the Klungkung Regency tourism fee charged when you enter the Nusa islands. The amount and payment method of this fee can change, and payment is now moving to cashless, so have a debit or credit card ready.
Continuing to Nusa Penida?
Many travellers combine Lembongan and Nusa Penida. There is no bridge to Penida, so you must cross by local boat and rent another scooter there. Penida's roads are much tougher than Lembongan's, with long descents and broken roads towards Kelingking. Read the guide to renting a scooter on Nusa Penida before deciding to ride yourself.
Summary
On Lembongan, rent a scooter on the island, pick a 125 cc automatic if you ride two-up, fuel up at the start, and finish your route before dark. When you return to Bali, you can book a Bali scooter rental via WhatsApp for the rest of your trip, for example delivered to Sanur when your boat arrives.
