Driving Costs in Bali: Fuel, Parking, Bali Mandara Toll & Fees
By the SiapPergi Editorial Team · Published 12 October 2026 · 6 min read

The rental price is only part of the cost of a trip. Fuel, parking at every sight, tolls and area entry fees can add hundreds of thousands of rupiah per day if you don't plan for them. This article sums up the estimated running costs of a car in Bali so your holiday budget stays on track.
Estimated daily running costs
| Item | Estimate | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Fuel for 100 km (Avanza, Pertalite) | approx. Rp80–90k | More in traffic or on climbs |
| Parking at 4–6 places | approx. Rp25–60k | Sights, restaurants, beaches |
| Bali Mandara toll (if used) | approx. Rp14k per crossing | Cashless |
| Area fees/entrance tickets | Varies | Per person, separate from parking |
| Total running costs (excluding rental) | approx. Rp120–200k | For a typical sightseeing route |
Fuel and petrol stations
- Pertamina petrol stations (SPBU) are easy to find on the main roads of South Bali, Denpasar, Gianyar and the regency towns. In the mountains and West Bali, they're further apart.
- Fill up before heading to Kintamani, Bedugul, East Bali or West Bali.
- Ask which fuel the provider recommends; many rental cars use Pertalite, some providers ask for Pertamax.
- Agree on the fuel rule: return the car with the same level as when you picked it up.

Parking
- Use official ticketed parking; many sights are managed by the customary village (desa adat).
- In Kuta, Seminyak and Canggu, car parking is hard to find in the afternoon; arrive early or use a scooter for short trips.
- Don't park in front of a temple during a ceremony or on a narrow road where you'd block traffic.
Bali Mandara toll road
This toll road over the sea links Nusa Dua, Ngurah Rai Airport and Benoa. Class I cars pay about Rp14,000 per crossing (rate in effect since 27 April 2024; rates are reviewed periodically, so check the tariff board at the gate). Payment is cashless only, with an electronic money card; make sure you have enough balance. Motorbikes have a dedicated lane; see riding a scooter on the Bali Mandara toll road.
Ask whether the rental car comes with an electronic money card. If not, buy one at a minimarket and top it up before using the toll road.
Conclusion
Budget about Rp120–200k per day for fuel, parking and tolls on top of the rental price, more for long routes. For a summary of rental prices, see Bali vehicle rental prices and choose a car on Bali car rental.
