Scooter Rental Bali: What You Need to Know Before You Ride
By the siappergi.com team · Published · 3 min read · Baca dalam Bahasa Indonesia
Scooter rental in Bali is the most common way visitors get around the island, and it is worth planning before you land. This guide covers prices, licence rules, delivery and handover, and a simple checklist for choosing and checking a bike.
Why a scooter is the easiest way to get around Bali
Bali's roads are busy, traffic moves slowly in towns like Kuta, Seminyak and Canggu, and taxis or ride apps can be costly for short hops every day. A scooter lets you stop at a beach, a warung or a rice terrace on your own schedule, and it is easy to park. Most visitors rent for a few days to a month, and many use one bike to cover the whole island.
Scooter rental prices in Bali
At SiapPergi, scooter prices are fixed catalogue prices in Indonesian Rupiah, with no haggling. Daily rates start at Rp70.000 for a 24-hour rental. Examples:
| Model | Price per day |
|---|---|
| Honda BeAT (Gen 4–5) | Rp80.000 |
| Honda Scoopy (Gen 4) | Rp90.000 |
| Honda Vario 125 | Rp100.000 |
| Yamaha NMAX 155 (Gen 2) | Rp150.000 |
| Honda PCX 160 (Gen 2) | Rp150.000 |
| Yamaha XMAX 250 (Gen 2) | Rp310.000 |
Weekly rates start from Rp395.000 and monthly rates from Rp910.000. Minimum rental is 2 days. Compare the model pages before you book: BeAT, Vario and NMAX are popular choices for different needs.
Licence and document requirements
Rules for riding in Indonesia are set by the national police and immigration authorities, and they can change, so check the official source before you travel. In general:
- Indonesian or local licence: a motorcycle licence (SIM C).
- Foreign visitors: your home-country licence together with an International Driving Permit (IDP) that includes the motorcycle category.
- Passport or ID: carry your passport with you while riding.
- Age: the minimum age for a scooter rental at SiapPergi is 17.
SiapPergi does not hold your passport or ID. You show it together with your licence when the scooter is handed over.
How delivery and handover work
You do not have to collect a bike from a counter. SiapPergi delivers to your hotel, villa or home anywhere in mainland Bali, including Ngurah Rai Airport (DPS), at the same catalogue price. Delivery and pick-up are included, with no delivery fee.
A simple handover checklist:
- Confirm the model, dates and delivery address with the team on WhatsApp (+6281808001102, 07.00–23.00 WITA).
- Check the scooter with the team at handover: tyres, brakes, lights and fuel.
- Ask for the two helmets that come with every scooter, and check they fit.
- Optionally add a raincoat (from Rp15.000) or a phone holder (Rp15.000).
- Pay in Rupiah on arrival (cash, bank transfer or e-wallet). There is no deposit and no online payment.
Safety checks before you ride
A few minutes before you leave will save trouble later:
- Test the front and rear brakes, and the horn and indicators.
- Check tyre pressure and tread, especially after rain.
- Make sure both helmets are the right size and fastened correctly.
- Photograph any existing scratches or dents together with the team before you leave.
- Plan routes in daylight where possible, as many rural roads have no street lighting.
- Keep a copy of your licence, IDP and passport photo on your phone.
Where you can ride
SiapPergi covers all of mainland Bali, including Denpasar, Badung, Gianyar, Tabanan, Bangli, Klungkung, Karangasem, Buleleng and Jembrana, with the same price everywhere. Popular areas include Kuta, Seminyak, Canggu, Ubud and Uluwatu. The bike cannot go to Nusa Penida, the Gili Islands or Lombok, because fast boats do not carry scooters. Rent another scooter at your destination instead.
