How Much Does Scooter Rental Cost in Bali?

Documents You Need to Prepare

To rent a scooter you need:

1. A valid motorcycle licence. Foreign visitors generally need their home-country licence plus an International Driving Permit (IDP) with the motorcycle category.
2. A passport or ID card to show at handover.
3. Minimum age of 17.

Licence and IDP rules are set by the Indonesian government and can change. Check the latest official information from the police or immigration before you travel.

Deposit and Passport: Is It Really Not Held?

Before you sign the handover, do a quick check:

• Inspect the bike from the front, back and sides, and take photos as proof.
• Start the engine and check the lights, brakes and horn.
• Make sure both helmets are there. Two helmets are included with every scooter rental.
• Ask about add-ons if you need them: phone holder Rp15,000, sunglasses Rp15,000 (2 pieces), helmet hair caps Rp15,000 (2 pieces), raincoats Rp25,000 (2 pieces), or 1 raincoat Rp15,000.

Limits to Remember

• Scooters cannot be taken to Nusa Penida, the Gilis or Lombok, because fast boats do not carry scooters. Rent another scooter at your destination.
